Once again, dozens of Amgen colleagues got on their bikes for a good cause. Following five Fietselfstedentochten, the Tour of Brabant returned for its second edition. Taking on distances ranging from 50 to 200 kilometres, participants rose to the challenge and made every kilometer count. Together, they raised funds for Matchis and the Dutch Heart Foundation.
Setting off from the Amgen office in Breda, the cyclists were divided into five groups based on their chosen distance. Full of energy, they headed out on routes through Brabant for a day of cycling, adventure and good company.
Whatever the weather, we ride together!
This year’s Tour of Brabant took place a little later than originally planned. Due to the extreme heat, the event could not take place in June as it did last year. Instead, nearly 50 enthusiastic participants gathered at the starting line on 4 September.
The weather may not have been quite as sunny as last year, with plenty of rain in the forecast, but that certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. With just as much enthusiasm and motivation, the participants got on their bikes and made the most of a great day together.
Pedalling for a good cause
Once again, participants cycled in support of the Dutch Heart Foundation and Matchis, the Dutch centre for stem cell donors. Every kilometre helped raise funds and awareness for these important organisations and the life-saving work they do every day.
This video captures highlights from the Tour of Brabant, as nearly 50 Amgen colleagues set off from the Breda office for a day of cycling through Brabant. From the start and moments along the route to colleagues riding together and enjoying the experience, the video gives an impression of the energy and atmosphere of the day. Despite the changeable weather, participants took on distances of up to 200 kilometres while raising funds and awareness for the Dutch Heart Foundation and Matchis.
Well, today we're cycling for charity. Matchis and the Dutch Heart Foundation.
We're doing that with 45 people. 9 are riding the 200 kilometers.
And the others are riding all kinds of other distances.
That's where we donate the money we raise together.
Today I'm cycling for the Dutch Heart Foundation.
I took part last year as well, but then I cycled for Matchis.
So, the other charity.
For me, the Dutch Heart Foundation. It appealed to me most, because recently... my sister was diagnosed with a minor heart defect.
I thought that was a great reason to support this charity
I chose the Dutch Heart Foundation.
Yeah, I think for me as a cycling enthusiast, it's a small effort to contribute in this way to the Dutch Heart Foundation.
The motivation and atmosphere are great. And we keep each other busy, so a really cool event, yeah.
3, 2, 1...
