When people are affected by diseases, they deserve the best possible treatment. To better design patient care, Amgen, together with healthcare providers and patients, is looking for ways to make it more appropriate. This can be done, for example, by moving care from the hospital to the home. By working with home care organizations and partners, we offer customized solutions for replacing and moving care closer to home. With our 20-plus years of experience in shifting care closer to home, we also help and advice hospitals to set this up themselves or through partners.
AmgenCare encompasses several specific patient support programs developed for patients specifically related to their disease profile. By now, these AmgenCare programs have existed for over 20 years, and during that time over 50.000 patients have been supported through these programs. These support programs include amongst other things home delivery of medication, administration and specialist care, extensive information and instruction on the use of the medication so that the patient can take over (depending on the type of medication), offering online support via a patient platform and monitoring therapy compliance.
See below for a brief description per program.
The AmgenCare cardiovascular program offers digital and physical services, helping (very) high-risk cardiovascular patients with their treatment, adherence and persistence to therapy. These services include home delivery of medication, administration instruction by an experienced nurse at the patient's home, and a digital patient portal.
The AmgenCare oncology program includes at-home delivery, instruction and administration of medication. Also additional information is available for each patient, depending on the treatment to be followed. The program is aimed at reducing the burden of treatment and the disease process as much as possible through personal guidance and its services.
The AmgenCare hematology program focuses on home treatment for ITP patients and patients with Multiple Myeloma. The at home administration of the treatment reduces travel and waiting time, subsequently decreasing the burden of disease for patients and/or caregivers.
