Welcome to Amgen Breda, where safety comes first. Ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all staff, visitors, contractors, and temporary workers is a priority for us. Unsafe actions or behavior can not only impact our products, but also our patients who rely on them. By following these rules we maintain regulatory compliance and help ensure our products remain safe for patients worldwide.

This instruction summarize the on-site rules you must follow to protect people, products, and the environment. If anything is unclear or unsafe, STOP and contact your Amgen host or Amgen Breda Security. Only work when it can be done safely.

Not adhering to the safety rules can result in work stoppage or being removed from our Amgen site.

1) On arrival


  • Report to Security and collect your contractor badge.
  • Meet your Amgen host and always follow instructions.
  • Access only authorized areas and wear your badge visibly.
  • Return your badge when leaving the site.

2) General safety rules


  • Hold the handrail on the stairs, do not use a mobile device on the stairs.
  • No phone use while walking and using the stairs.
  • Use and respect barriers, do not cross.
  • No smoking, alcohol, or drugs are allowed anywhere on site.
  • Eat and drink only in designated areas (e.g. restaurant).
  • Taking photos or videos is not allowed unless you have explicit prior approval. This protects the privacy, our intellectual property and safety.

3) Permits & risk controls


  • General work permit as given by your Amgen host - is mandatory – read and sign the document before you start.
  • Additional permits can be applicable: Hot Work, Confined Space, LOTO, Line Break, Machine Safety.
  • Kick‑off/toolbox held before work starts your attendance will be recorded.
  • Conduct the Last-Minute Risk Assessment (LMRA) at the start of each day, after >1h break, and before any new high‑risk task. Check hazards, controls, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and permits before starting.

4) Production (GMP) areas


  • Escorts required - only stay within defined construction zones only.
  • Protect product quality - never touch or contaminate product or materials.
  • Follow gowning & hygiene rules (e.g., lab coat, hair/beard nets, shoe covers, hand washing).
  • No food, drink, or candy/gum in GMP areas.
  • Keep the area safe, clean, and orderly - Immediately clean the work area after you are finished.
  • Control all tools, materials, and waste to prevent contamination.

5) Emergencies


  • On evacuation alarm (slow‑whoop): leave via the nearest (emergency) exit; do not use elevators.
  • Go to the assembly point and await instructions from ERT/BHV. Follow signage and your host's instructions to the correct assembly area.
  • Report all incidents/near‑misses to your Amgen host.

6) Close‑out


  • Leave the work area safe, clean, and reinstated; dispose of waste correctly.
  • Close out the work permit with your Amgen host; return your badge.
